It depends on your priorities. OpenAI (GPT-4o) and Claude offer the most natural translations and are great for marketing copy. DeepL is excellent for European languages. Google Translate and Yandex are budget-friendly. Chrome AI runs offline in your browser — fully private with no API costs.
Yes — TranslateXYZ addons connect to AI providers via your own API key. This keeps your translation costs transparent (you pay the provider directly), gives you full control, and means we never proxy or store your content. Chrome AI is the exception — it runs locally without any key.
Pricing varies by provider. OpenAI charges roughly $0.005–$0.030 per 1,000 tokens. Gemini and Claude have similar tiers. DeepL bills per character. Google Translate is around $20 per million characters. For most WordPress sites, monthly translation costs land between $1 and $20 — far cheaper than human translation.
Yes. Each addon supports multiple providers and you can change the active provider at any time from the settings panel. Already-translated content stays as-is unless you re-translate it.
Some integrations are still on our roadmap. Yandex is currently only supported by AutoPoly, and Chrome AI is unique to LocoAI. If you need a combination we don't offer yet, contact us — popular requests get prioritized for upcoming releases.
